Abbie,
I understand where you're going here. However, my feeling is that making Terrapyres the focus of general oppression and fear would take more away from the core stories than it would add to it.
I think that the Terrapyres, as a race, have acknowledged the fact of their difference and while certainly there will be incidents of prejudice, Terrapyres are faster, stronger, smarter than any of the humans who surround them. And Terrapyres, unlike the enhanced human in your story, have no interest in taking out their frustrations on innocents.
The biggest difference in your example is the person you pull out is acting in a way that is hurtful to others. Given human nature and mob mentality, it's no surprise that he unleashes a backlash against enhanced humans considering that he's using his abilities to deliberately cause harm. Terrapyres aren't doing this.
I guess I'd need a Terrapyre specific example in order to be able to respond more specifically to your question.

I was really just throwing an idea out there about the enhancements. That perhaps this would make for an interesting plotline, somewhere at the beginning of genetic enhancement in medical clinics (so in the future from our time, but not way in the future). Then it would somehow have to be resolved, perhaps by the appearance of several enhanced humans who -saved- the lives of others at great risk to themselves. A hero/villain type story, really.
So maybe more of an offshoot than an actual Terrapyre story, though Terrapyres might be in it.
Anyway, it was just an idea. xD

Abbie,
It will be terrific to have lots of technology, culture building etc., in all the Mardi Gras 3000 stories. The only thing we have to remember is that the focus of the stories should always be the Celestials and Terrapyres.

So... do you think Terrapyres tag? Today the folkes at 7419 were talking about the animal instinct behind tagging, but also the protection it entials. Do you think, particularly in a virtual era when tags could be virtual (only sensed with virtual glasses or online or something), that Terrapyres would tag areas they protect or even known outposts as threats to Celestials?

Absolutely. I think Raws would tag all kinds of stuff (CLOWNS!) but even older, more refined Terrapyres would tag virtually (ooo... how would *that* work?) with the Terrapyre cross to network with others of their kind. The same way that Christians used to draw half the fish in the sand and see if the other person completed it (thus "outing" themselves to one another as Christians).
Love this idea.

On 4/19/2007, the Hewlett-Packard Company of the USA patented:
An ink having infrared (IR) absorptivity that includes an ink vehicle and an IR absorptive pigment having low visible color (160). According to one exemplary embodiment, the IR absorptive pigment includes an antimony-containing tin oxide.
This is invisible ink (paint, etc.) that is only visible on the infrared spectrum. Fast forward to Prime Time, and you could easily get a ink vehicle like a ring or even the projection from an eye-based implant that would leave a digital marker readable only to individuals tuned in to the same frequency (the Terrapyre Channel LOL).

Ah, Abbie. In order to avoid the Clowns, this pigment would spray from an inner-wrist or palm-mounted vehicle (the size of a chapstick, maybe smaller) that would pass the pigment over the Terrapyre's fingertips (pointer and middle finger) infusing the pigment with a genetic marker that could only be read by someone with like genetics. Like this:
A Terrapyre has a visual implant. This implant is loaded with samples of Human and Terrapyre genetics. The samples have to be acquired in order to be loaded (and we all know that Celestials can't acquire Terrapyres). The visual implant can then decode (make visible) all markers that are Human or Terrapyre.
This could be tweaked further to for stronger coding.
What would this vehicle (delivery device) be called?

Hmm... I have no idea what that would be called. It's an amazing idea, though, and quite useful. I also someone would have fun squirting the stuff like spiderman (from them wrist)
I had a question, though. We all know that Terrapyres, in general, are pro-activist. Would it be common, however, for a Terrapyre to be an open activist? It would be very dangerous to be that noticable or watched, but wouldn't it be in their nature, particularly when they're younger, to fight for something they believe in? Just wondering.

The more I thought about this, the more I'm starting to think that a delivery device would make secure tagging impossible -- someone could simply steal the delivery device and they could tag as you... unless... the fluid/pigment has to pass over your bare skin (like fingertips) and at that point it reads and mimics your dna?

I think, as Papa Nurgle was saying, that they would not be able to stop themselves from being activists and helping others. It is embedded within their very nature. I think Terrapyres would simply become very good at changing their appearance... disappearing after a normal life span... or even allowing themselves to be martyred (not really, just to be able to "die" so they can become someone else).

Okay, I just did the chick squeal thing, too.
Terrapyres need these babies as crosses that reflect scripture (in Hebrew maybe?) when caught by moonlight (Or when the terrapyre is enraptured by prayer.)
Just saying.
(Where are these? Ebay?)
Edit: Hey, found them in the links on the pictures. Amazon.com. Gorgeous.

Those. Are. Awesome. AWESOME!!!!!! If I had time and access to a lab when I didn't have overwhelming metals assignments, I'd volunteer to make up some awesome Terrapyre jewelry design. As it is, though, I don't really have time. Those are really incredible, though.

Glad you galls liked them! I wasn't sure if I was totally off-base... just something about the black heart turning blood red really caught my eye. I do like the idea of scripture or even Hebrew letters displaying when caught in light... even in the light of battle, perhaps.
Abbie, you could just draw jewelry designs and I think I'd go ape! Though... eeek... I know drawing takes time too!
