It has been determined that a deluxe 32-page comic of Pahmela Angel's story "Shakuhachi" (in the "Crusade Battle Anthology") will be created for publication in February 2010.
The comic, "Hylonome: Shakuhachi," will tell the original story in addition to three connected scenes set in 2049 AD in Tokyo.
This is where you come in! We need actors. Never acted in an IMVU platform project before? It's lots of fun and a great way to help make a project beautiful.
For "Hylonome: Shakuhachi," we need:
Open Call #1 Townsmen
Four to six Edo era Japanese men. This does not mean you need to be a man! It only means you need to dress up a male avatar. We're looking for traditional Japanese, Human men -- no blue eyes, no crazy anime heads. The rule is: Your character cannot be wearing the color blue, and the characters must be everyday men (not royalty).
Open Call #2 Tokyo Club
Four to six mid-Prime Time (2048 AD) club goers. The club in question is high-class and known for a place to listen to traditional music and enjoy private business conversations which might be sensitive in nature. You can dress your own personal avatar up for this scene or one of your characters. The rule: Nothing too punk. This is a *nice* club. Again, no one is allowed to wear blue.
How to audition for the calls:
Design your character(s) in IMVU and take a screen capture. You can build your character in the dressing room if you don't have the credits to build him or her (just save a file with your PIDs). Post a picture of your character here and Eric Chen, our new comic medium editor, will provide feedback. If you tweak your character according to his wishes, you will secure the role! Send us your list of PIDs and we'll gift your character what he or she needs -- YES, WE ARE PAYING FOR YOUR COSTUMES.
In the Subject field of your post, please paste either:
Open Call #1 Townsmen
or
Open Call #2 Tokyo Club
Do not put characters for call #1 in the same post as characters for call #2. However, if you'd like to audition with more than one character for each call, they can be included in the same post.
Show off your ideas, ladies and gentlemen, and help make a great story come alive.

Brianne says I'm not describing clearly enough I guess my twice-a-year clubbing makes me *so* not an expert. Your characters are great but wouldn't work for "club"... which I never should have called a club *sigh* Let me try again. 1. No characters can wear blue. 2. Year is 2048 AD. 3. Place is Tokyo. 4. Location is a upper-class, elegant restaurant/lounge with live traditional medieval music. Tables are traditional Japanese style (low with pillows instead of chairs). Screens provide privacy. Humans (and sometimes Terrapyres) come to talk private business here and handle sensitive and serious matters. There is a small fountain and garden near the center of the room and a few open tables where people can sit and have light food or drinks. Does this help any? I'm sorry, Abbie. I'm still pretty darn new to all this Please revise and post again? I would love to work with you. jennifer

Does my character have to be Japanese? I forgot about the blue - or had a brain freeze or something. That's ok..the bottom dress comes in different colors. Is there a specific "look" I'm missing?

Hi Abbie! Nope, doesn't have to be Japanese. I think what Jennifer is saying is, the characters have to look more fancy. Suits, ties, dresses. The place is up-scale. No dance floor. Old-school Hollywood smancy Hm... Jennifer? Brianne? Do you have a character that is an example? Hm... Brianne? Why don't you, uh, take Jennifer avatar and put her in the slinky dress and post it? *evil laughter* And Launa, Di'nay, Cris? You grrls have IMVU! Is Abbie the only one who is going to help out?! EJ

Well if it's upscale you could have said so! xD I have not one but TWO awesome dresses. I love dresses. (now that I've gotten over being a tomboy...and realized I can be somewhere in between that and a girly girl...hmm, like, a grrly grrl? xD) Anyway! Take 2: I guess it depends on which look you are looking for...here's the "flashy" but def. old hollywood look: Here's the more contemporary look (can you tell I'm obsessed with gladiator sandals ):

EJ - Haven't you figured out by now that I'm no artist? I'm just an artistic supporter... ;D LOL. But I'll tell you what - if anyone needing IMVU stuff can find it and put it on a wish list, if they let me know I'll be more than glad to get whatever is needed. Besides - my taste in fashion is diametrically opposed to what y'all are looking for, anyway... Best for me to leave it to those who know what they're doing!

Abbie, I must have missed your "Take 1," but those look great! You inspire me to help out, too. Woudl your awesome twin characters be having a meeting at the club, maybe? (I loved yor story, by the way.) Di'nay, I've been to your hp. You have some cool outfits going on. Stretch a little creative muscle, grrl, you might like it! Jennifer? I'll create some townsmen and post them. I think those will pose a real challenge for me and I'm up for a challenge

These are all excellent! Thank you all so much! The club is really coming together in my mind, and the townsman is perfect, too, Summer. Abbie, Summer and Erik, thank you, truly. Keep up the auditions, everyone! Eric will come in once we have more characters posted And EJ? Brianne will *not* be posting a picture of my avatar in the "slinky dress." That dress has been retired... in VR Jennifer

I have never seen imvu characters that look so realistic. These are very professional. Is there a trick or advice that you can offer Summer and... Erik? Since when do you have this hidden skill? Where did you learn to build such a realistic character? It somehow doesn't seem right that I do not know this about you.
Hmm.
