Jennifer, babe, do you still have heat? Mortgage? Still like dinner from Dominos? What feeds you all? $40? Tell me and Soph how we can help make this book happen, grrl.

I usually add in the chapters after the fact unless I come to a point I know I want to be a chapter ending and I just label it to be numbered later. And Simon and Garfunkle are great. I used to listen to them when writing as a teen, particularly Sound of Silence and Scarborough Fair.
Seriously... can't wait to read Elijah. I loved "That Human Grrl" so much. Here's praying that the cold disappears.

Jen... ! I'm sorry your cold is winning. Maybe you should take a day off from the typing, and just sleep, and when you are awake, write down (by hand) every good snippet you can think of. But don't push yourself. I often get inspired in the best way when I'm lying in bed. Just as long as you take care of yourself. Hang in there! It'll get better! Usually you have a couple of really bad days and then everything starts to look up. *HUG!* Keep it up!

Four minute, forty second song. On repeat. Four hours. Hm... www.playlist.com/playlist/18975916043/standalone"I think about how many times I have fallen. Spirits are using me larger voices calling. "What heaven brought you and me Cannot be forgotten. I have been around the world, looking for that woman, that girl, who knows love can endure. And you know it will. "When you see the Southern Cross for the first time you understand now why you came this way. "'Cause the truth you're running from is so small. But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a comin' day. "And my love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain. I have my ship and all her flags are flying. She is all that I have left and music is her name."

Jennifer, if there is anyone who can make Elijah accessible to all readers, and craft a MG3K story that transcends the "limitations" of the universe, it's you.
I won't ask where your word count is at. I have to agree with Abbie. Take time to heal and then slam it. I got a job today working for a Catholic newsletter for teens. How about I join Gille's campaign and offer to buy the household a round of pizza? No cooking/dishes for a working mama?

Gille: You rule my world, grrl. Couldn't ask for a better bud. You're a total lurker punk but when you post, you offer pizza? Oh baby. I have no complaints Yep. $40 is dinner (chicken and sandwiches delivered) for three adults, two kiddos, and left overs for breakfast ;D Launa: Thank you for the encouragement. Writing "That Human Grrl" proved to myself that I could really put Elijah through the wringer and enjoy doing it ;D Abbie: You are so right, once more! I started feeling a little better late last night then woke feeling almost totally normal. Uh, you know, as normal as I can feel writing a whole novel beating up on poor Elijah ;{ EJ: First, darling, congratulations on your new job. What are you doing for the newsletter? As for transcending, it's interesting you use that word. That's one of my goals... but also the opposite of one of my goals. The base idea (that you conceived) for "Elijah" stretches the ideas of the universe and drifts outside it quite a bit. But with our new focus on "keeping it real," I have to really fight to keep the focus on the true mythology and on building the character into one that many people will want to step in and write about. I would like to make Elijah, the character, so real that anyone at all -- a brand new author, or a more established MG3K author like Abbie, Launa or Luz, for instance -- would feel comfortable just stepping in and exploring with her. Also, it's important to flesh out the character for authors who have her appearing in supporting roles in forthcoming novels like "Chorus" and "Angelus." Whew! Oh! And second? I never turn down feeding my wild pack of kiddos (and grown up grrls). So yes, go ahead and join forces with Gille Okay, I'm off to finish chores and then school with Maxwell. I'll post my word count tonight! I think I'm only behind a day (which I can totally make up this weekend) but I'd love to really do great stuff tonight and amaze even myself. *running around with pom poms* Jennifer

*chuckle* I think all authors have a tiny bit of sadism in them when it comes to their characters. Putting them through the wringer can be... well... fun. Emotional investment always ups the ante. Good luck with the catch up, and I'm glad you're feeling better. And be careful running with pom poms. Having a sister who's a cheerleader, I know they can be deadly.

You know, as a writer, I feel that I am helped growing as a person when my characters grow through hard times. I feel okay putting them through trauma and emotional upheaval because I know that they will be all the better for it. It makes them who they are. And it helps me remember those things, too, God doesn't make mistakes and I am the same way. He doesn't do it out of sadism, but out of understanding and love and a desire to make me more like Him. So, if that's what I'm (in my own human, twisted, finite way) doing to and for them, and maybe helping someone else as well, I will do it. Keep it up, Jen! BTW! You just made my day by calling me a more established MG3K writer. After writing one short story. LOL. I really should write a novel. When I'm finished with my non-MG3K novel. ! I can't buy you pizza. Heck, I can't buy myself pizza. (but that's ok, because I really should lay off the carbs) But I will keep rooting for you.

Man, I don't know what's gotten into me tonight, but I am on fire! Writing up a storm! I'm almost to page 250 in my book, (That's Microsoft Word pages, double-spaced) and definitely at some very cool climactic points. I hope you are having the same luck/Providence tonight, Jen! *spams the thread*

Oh sweet Abbie! You really are such a delight to know, honestly.
I got "called in" to work. It's 8:10 in the morning here and I haven't slept yet. I had to do web changes for two clients and then prep twenty-six covers for the printer (this means opening them, updating them, screen-capturing the barcode, cropping it, reinserting it, pdfing, then stitching all tonight with repeat instances of the ones that need more than ten copies).
In short, I haven't written at all. As in: Not a literal word. I feel... hm. You know what? I wasn't really raised to wallow. Plus... I need to get back to work on the covers. *Your* post is actually exactly what I needed *gentle smile*
So, I think, that I sent you super good speedy mojo! *pom poms for Abbie* Go look at that spider again! He is cheering for you! Hear his tiny voice: Go, Abbie, go!
And your posts are never spam.

Oh...um, wow. That sounds like a lot of work. BTW is this for the MG3K site or the OHP one? Who's doing that for you? I only ask because I wouldn't mind helping. It's something I can do from Wisconsin. Now, I don't know exactly how busy I'll be this semester, but I suspect quite busy. But I can at least try and if it doesn't work If it involves updating websites...well, I can do that. Hope the work on the covers is speedy!!! *runs to look at the cheer-spider* Also, on the subject of Spam...I canNOT stop watching this. I watch it like at least once a week, and sometimes more often. My favorite Youtube video I don't know WHY it's so funny, but I LOOOVE British humor. xD

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxKIJTb3HgHm. Abbie, I may just take you up on that offer (for MG3K changes and updates). The sites I was talking about are for Blue Artisans clients (www.blueartisans.com) so they're like real estate websites and stuff like that Just what I do on the side to try to help with bills. I finally finished at 10:30 this morning and then slept until Cris needed me at OHP (at 4:00 -- what a gift!). 6:00 now. Going to write some, then make dinner, then write a little more, then work on the YouTubes. It has been decided that I'll push Elijah writing back one week to fully complete the YouTube series with Brianne so that other aspects of launch can move forward while I'm writing. Seems like a good idea. Might give me time to get the specific Creole reference book I need! Yay! How did writing go, Abbie? Happy with where you're at? (You should be!)
