Nicole is a Companion even though the world of the Immortals terrifies her. Her sense of duty to humanity drives her to remain involved, even if it's on a peripheral level.
Nicole is a licensed social worker; she specializes in child services and has spent most of her time placing Terrapyre children orphaned by the struggle for the Grail.
Additionally, she provides counseling for children who have been terrified--either accidentally or deliberately--by the sight of Celestials in their world.
