Eshu is a member of an Outpost of Celestials posing as performers in a masked circus. Due to a defect at birth, Eshu is unable to vocalize and instead communicates to his fellow Homidus telepathically and to the Humans with mime-like hand motions. As a performer, he adores acting as a mime, acrobat and "clown." He holds much of the pre-Grail Lhanorian fascination with alien species and finds Humans hypnotizing. He loves all children, particularly making them laugh. As a soldier he is graceful and fierce, but his determination to destroy the Grail may not be as strong as his Compeer due to his love of the circus.
Eshu is kind and actively seeks Chariklo's friendship when they are Compeer, despite Chariklo's apathy.
