Featured in "Chariklo: Priorities" and "Leather Ladybird." Darlin' is an ex-military, heavy weapons specialist with a love of motorcycles, coffee and designer sunglasses. After a mission to save a kidnapped child in Brazil, Darlin' joined Strawberry in her quest to save all people in danger, particularly women and children. Darlin' is intelligent and strategic and is the only person who can keep Strawberry from killing herself when she is obsessively driven to complete a mission. As I work on the first issue of the Leather Ladybird comic series, I thought I'd post some updated pictures of Strawberry and Darlin'. Here are some test shots of the final, approved design for Darlin':

LOL, thanks for your compliments (here and on Strawberry's thread.) From what I hear, you are the comic guru. I'm honored And sure I could sell posters sometime. Maybe a centerfold style tear-out in the comic, LOL.

If this is the look of the character, I think a centerfold-style pin-up would actually be neat.

*chuckle* Hmm. That would be funny. The thing about Darlin' is, she's very strong. She's a female heavy-artillary specialist with extensive field experience. She's a soldier and a woman in a field dominated by men. She's had a very hard past and is still struggling to deal with a few things. But she's also very much a woman and unashamed about it. It has been said before (as a joke... but I'm still debating ) that she keeps her shotguns in a fancy French cabinet. I like switching up preconceptions and stereotypes. I want her to be a beautiful woman with brain and brawn. So it's important to me that she be very professional when necessary, very strong, at times very feminine (maybe even a little more so to help balance out Strawberry) but I never want her to come off as just a pretty face in leather. I want her to come off competent. I have a lot of women in Leather Ladybird and I want to show real-world versatility with them. I've met a lot of unbelievably strong, stereotype-busting women in MG3K. I want to show the world they exist. I want them to empower and inspire people, especially other women. I think Darlin' is in a good position to do that. Strawberry is very smart and, personally, I find I naturally connect (as a writer) with her better. But she can come off as unapproachable. She's also dominant, independent and very single minded, sometimes to the point of recklessness. Darlin' is often the voice of reason. In a way, I don't think of Strawberry as entirely existing in the world. Or maybe she exists even more in the world than the average person. She doesn't exist in the reality that the mass populace sees as the world. I think Darlin' has the potential to reach a very different kind of woman (maybe even a more common kind of woman) than those that would be drawn to Strawberry. With Darlin' I think of my cousin, who looks just like a barbie doll but, in reality, was a contender for a spot on the Olympic Tae Kwon Do team and is a shrewd business woman when she needs to be. She just happens to love prada glasses, short skirts and her long, blond hair. Darlin' is less barbie, but the idea holds true. So I would totally be up to doing centerfolds. I like the idea of a person being able to post a picture of a character that inspires them on their wall. But I would want to be sure that I have a strong enough idea of what I'm doing that all of the little centerfolds come off as with that intent. Not "Hey, that grrl is sexy, I'll put her up next to the bikini centerfold." Though... it could be "Hey, that girl is sexy and smart and strong and I can be, too." Darlin' would appreciate being sexy. (And yes, for the record, I know that any centerfold with two women will get attention I don't care for. I also know my demographic as a comic book designer. But this is my intention.) So, in short... thank you. I'm definitely thinking of doing that. I'm honored that you like this idea and, quite frankly, that both Brianne and Mira were drawn to Darlin' enough to post. You made my day

However... in a GLTB store, it would get the appropriate attention I'm hoping to get Under the Influence into as many gay-friendly stores as possible. Brianne
