So I have gotten my promotion today. As I write this I am now the district supervisor for news media for the Brooklyn/Glen Burnie spire. It still has not quite sunken in yet, but I am excited for the challenges to come. The crew gave us a big party at the complex, soy cake and synth-caffeine with balloons and all the trimmings. It was so nice to see all of my co-workers and associates together to share in this. Ms. Serah Eitleman, the new head of the division.
It really is so sad that I have to take this due to Micah’s condition. She was really a great boss until the end there. I still do not really understand what happened with her, but I hope she gets better. Moving into what used to be her office today has been so odd, but I will do my best to make it mine by hard work.
My father told me when I was young that we may be seen by our words, but we will be known by our deeds. I still hear that phrase during every news cycle, every project brought to fruition and every person we report on. I know that so many look at the news and see the entertainment as the only thing we do, but there is so much more.
While moving into the new office I noticed that there is a desk safe. I think it may have been set to open only to Micah’s bio-signs but with the central processors reset, I was able to open it with a multiple poly-numeric slide program. The encrypted data drive inside the safe is still giving me fits, but I should be able to crack it shortly. Why did she feel the need to hide something so well? Not in a processing core, but in an encrypted data drive sealed in a safe. I know I should respect her privacy but at the same time my ‘journalistic curiosity’ seems to be screaming at me about the little drive. Well if it is her list of affairs and dirty money, I will destroy it, but if it was something she was working on, I feel a responsibility to finish her work. Does that even make sense?
