So the question I have is how do the Celestials, a 4D race of life, feel about humanity. Certainly they must view the people of earth at the least with some pity. After all a 4D creature who can 'see' emotions and has a variety of forms it can take on must view our muted sences and one form bodies as disadvantageous to say the least. I would think some would even find our bodies abhorrent and any crossbreeding with strong distain. Or am I just reading too much of our human fraility into any creatures psyche? What do you think?

As you probably noticed in some of the fiction, Matt, early Celestials had pretty mixed feelings about humans. But over the years I would say your description pretty much became the norm. A Celestial-centric writer, like Launa ("AreaneCreator") could probably go into much greater detail with you about this (Jump right in, Launa!) but, overall, you're correct. This disdain toward humans is especially great in Celestials like Hylonome, whereas Eris sees humans as pets... or less... like insects.

You hit the view of the vast majority of Celestials, papa nurgle. I know that when I wrote "Ganymede" (a story that details one of the very first Celestial missions to Earth after the Grail) many of the group were left stunned at first. Earth itself is so very dead to the Celestials. It's like stepping into a space of true silence: disconcerting and wrong. They view the humans, however, in various ways. Often the kinder hearted Celestials will see them as pets or something to study. Celestial missionaries are used to collecting and caring for or releasing more primitive creatures on Hom. Many of the first missions thought of humans this way. But then the war began. Many of these caring feelings disappeared when the humans began to fight and kill the Celestials. In "Ganymede", there is a massacre of one of the first Celestial settlements by humans: only humans. Celestials are different. They're scary. Humans aren't always receptive to this. This led, I believe, to two more mindsets on humans: they're of no concern/they're to be hated just like the Terrapyres they fight for. This all depends on the individual Celestial, of course. When child Celestials began to be born 3D, however, I believe another way to think of humans. They are necessary. For Celestial parents of very 3D children, humans are often needed as Caretakers. They are taking care of Celestial children; an extremely precious part of a Celestial's life. The Celestial child's new parents, perhaps even the new siblings of the Celestial child, maybe even their friends, will obviously be more receptive to Celestials. These caretakers (humans allied with Celestials) are sympathetic to the Celestials. Some of them even offer their services to Celestials with electronic equipment (as Celestials can't operate or even come to close to any) and with spying.
Celestials would never, I believe, mate with a human. I don't even think it's possible, unless the Celestial is in morph, and even that is not a fact (can Celestials reproduce in morph?). Celestial reproduction is, as all things with Celestials, extremely personal, extremely emotional, and (in my opinion) very, very smexy. Celetials in intimate form can literally become one. They can meld together, be completely a part of the other, completely one. They share everything. Their love is a literal physical feeling that they share and experiance. To create a child, they must work together in this state, create from their passion an embodiment of their love, of everything good between the two of them. The child is just as dependent on the parent's emotions as the physical process of creation. This is far more than any human can hope to experiance. Mating with a human... it would be blasphemy to their species. It would be rejecting their own capabilities to love and connect (the heart of the 4D) as well as an attempt to create a child that would be robbed of its true heritage. It would be intentionally creating an incomplete child. It would be disgusting and obscene to any Celestial by nature.
Does this help at all?

Thank you, Launa. I knew you would be able to provide more information.
You bring up an interesting question about Celestials in morph. Can they reproduce? I leap to say "no way" but then I wonder because we have said before that, in morph, they are fully that other creature. However, would the presence of another life form (non-4D, and non-Homidus) trigger their body to fight the contaminate? Hm.

We have stressed that a Celestial fully becomes the morphed creature, allowing a Celestial to experience (and gain incredible knowledge from) any creature they can sample across the cosmos. I would think that as long as they remain in the morph, they could carry the child/offspring to term. But it would be the creature 100%. Not Celestial in any way. IMHO

Oh man, the story ideas for that alone boggle the mind!
The reason I ask about Celestial mindsets toward us humans is because the way they view humanity says a lot about not only their culture, but ours as well. Thank you everyone for your assistance.

Notes on Celestial Caretakers:
Celestials and humans began to interract through science. Some Celestials believed that, through teaching humans science, that the humans may one day shun the Terrapyres and aide the Celestials. In the 1930s, when the first 3D Celestials began to appear, however, this recruitment of humans became crucial. This is when humans began to join the Celestials as a normal practice. Word of the alien race with the afflicted children that needed foster homes spread, and humans joined the cause to help. Some Caretakers prefered to actively fight for the Celestials, acting as electronics bearers on missions and acting as spies. Others housed 3D children and raised them, many meeting through the Neons to let the 3D Celestials socialize or even home-school online. Celestial Caretakers avoid each other in real life to avoid detection by Terrrapyres.
Celestials keep an active node on the Neon with interviews and photographs of potential and existing Caretakers so a Celestial can choose which home to place their child in. This was very dangerous when the Coallition decided to start sterilizing 3D Celestials. Potential qualities a Celestial may look for in a Caretaker are: Intelligence. Education. Creativity. Strict structure. Stable home. Of course, individual Celestials would want specific things for their kids, things that they as parents respect.

Very helpful, yes. Thank you.
I'll add this small factoid: Pholus searches for months to find just the right Caretaker for his 3D son (whom he is writing to in "Immortal Dreaming") and then he transfers to an Outpost nearest where the woman lives.

As with Terrapyre Companions, the last update of the Sourcebook says that Companions can use a nanobot inhaler to enhance their stamina, strength, etc. Is this information still relevant?

Yeah. That would still be true. Or... they could just take Provigil.

Yeah, but only if they're narcoleptic or have CFS.
