I'm not sure at this point (Brianne? Cris? Jennifer?) if anything in this section is valid or helpful since it looks like the system is coming from Jennifer.

Since that's what's up, can we reorganize this section? Cuz I'd love to start databases for weapons, armor, and Resource assignments for disciplines. I think it would rock to have some of those lists start here so they could be included in the final. I mean, if she has to shoulder this, than I think we should all help.

Is that possible?

This will be done tonight, Pip. Thanks for the good suggestion and the wonderful offer. And Eric, thank you for jumping in with an offer to help as well. We are under an incredibly tight deadline and this project is a high priority.

The basic run down is this:

Outside of being the publisher over at Orchard House Press and the little ole Brand Manager here at Mardi Gras 3000, my actual bread-and-butter comes from painting pictures. Ooo. Neat This income needs a little help sometimes and so I run a small gaming company that designs operating systems for role-playing, basic computer, and card games. This is Stacked Gaming.

Stacked has an original base RPG OS called EpicX. The base runs a classic fantasy game without the need for special modules. I am adapting this model for the traditional, tabletop Mardi Gras 3000 d20 role-playing game that we need. It will be a Prime Time game base with modules that allow play on Hom, in different pre-PT eras, in VR, and in post-PT. These modules will mostly likely be written by official MG3K writers already involved in the brand. Yay!

EpicX does not run on massive reference lists but rather encourage player creativity, realism and research in terms of selecting weapons, armor, and equipment for your characters. However, I'd like forum member help to come up with some sample weapons and armor so that players can assign the proper rating to equivalents.

General brainstorming for equipment -- practical items that characters would find helpful in-game -- would also be great.

Lastly, a keystone of the EpicX system is character disciplines. These are like jobs or intense focuses that are vital to a character's personality and can range from very personal to rather mundane -- anything from singing, to prayer, to parenthood, to being a DJ. Each possible character focus/hobby/heart (read: discipline) must be categorized in one of six major categories. Brainstorming different disciplines and what category they fall in would be a great reference to give people with the base corebook.

I know there has been a lot of research and progress but also changes with what MG3K is doing for our role-playing game. Can we have an update when you can, Jennifer?

There have been a lot of changes to the approach. Again, like with vMG3K, I decided to go back to the original players. In this case, I mean The Hours gaming group and Pip and Teresa who were gaming four times a week with an ad-hoc system.

Looks like how we're moving forward, is that the EpicX system is being play-tested as the base engine for a MG3K d20 RPG. Then a team of volunteers will be organized to create a MG3K Prime Time module (and any other era or location -- like 350 BC or Hom) either together, live on the forum, or working offline in a roundtable, or tag-email style.

Anyone who'd like to be involved in that part of the process (creating resource lists).
