Then a limited edition of 500 decks were made available through two stores and directly from the publisher. This is the deck we call the Beta Deck and it was basic play only -- no Instants until the very last month before it was removed from the market for our changes. But even the Beta Deck was darn good and every player already hooked on the game is hooked because of it. There was a small but passionate tournament circuit that sprung up and these players and events are documented here (along with our player rankings): www.mardigras3000.com/tournaments/index.htmWe aren't actively encouraging other Beta Deck tournaments but my publisher is still willing to supply prizes and certificates and/or trophies for Beta Deck events with 12 or more players. Personally... I'm counting the days until launch of the National Edition Starting in February 2010, this thread will be the place to come for event announcements, pics and other awesome details. EJ

EJ? Would you and the publisher agree to authorize a tourney on the basic system (Mardi Gras 3000 Online) if the embedded roller in AIM or a stand-alone window java chat were used? I'd be interested in hosting and putting up the prize.

When all is ready for the CCG, you can of course count on us to work with any Organized Play you set up and be an official Tournament Center for the game.

You make me want to visit Maryland, Matt.
Angel? I would play an online tournament. Will there be a cover? Will basic-play tournaments count differently than National Edition tournaments?

I think at this point, any basic play tourney (online or offline) would have to simply be a Beta Deck tourney. Beta Deck ranks will be counted separately (though they will still be counted) from National Edition ranks. Perhaps in December? A Christmas tourney? See if you can muster 12 players and we'll see. Cover would be $6. First place would take home $50. All players would receive a tournament-exclusive card. Let me know EJ

I'm very sorry to announce that the Alpha vMG3K had to be removed from the server after the hacker attack in August 2009. We'll need to wait until the official launch of Beta vMG3K late in 2010 for online play. Unless we can fast track basic play somehow by utilizing the die roller on the forum. Please see my thread about the development of vMG3K in that thread.

Oh that sucks, Jennifer. I'm so sorry that happened. All that beautiful code, grrl! Dang. Wow. Please tell me if there's anything I can do.
