I was falling asleep a few dawn's ago when something struck me. No, not Maxwell throwing a stuffed dinosaur at my head but this thought:
I don't want to retell the same stories.
You see, I'd been brought in to create a comic version of Pahmela's story in the "Crusade Battle Anthology." But I realized that this wouldn't do justice to this character or the brand. Instead... I'm going to create an anthology of short stories about Hylonome that span his life and really show who he is and how fascinating he can be.
The anthology will be unique in that it will be presented like an illuminated manuscript (albeit black and white) with a parchment-like texture watermark on the pages, ornate drop caps and scrolls, and all of the stories illustrated. Authors can choose to illustrate their own stories (with IMVU, free-drawing, photographs, or whatever they choose) and they can design one card for the card game inspired by some aspect of their story.
But here's what makes this anthology even more unique. The stories I need are somewhat specific. This is spec writing... but not formula writing. I will give you the idea... and you'll be able to run with it.
Stories must be a minimum of 3000 words long. Deadline is May 16. I will work as the collections editor and I'll write the last piece in the collection. If you don't want to do your own story illustration or the card inspired by your story, I'll also take care of them.
I hope that many of you will step forward to explore this amazing character with me. Hylonome is complex and very real. He has flaws and also a great capacity for romance, a love of art, and a true "all-male" side that flourishes in action and adventure.
The only prerequisite is that you read Pahmela's story in the "Crusade Battle Anthology" about Hylonome and you read Pahmela's Hylonome and Ganymede sections in "Immortal Dreaming" in the "Player's Handbook." (Everyone who signs on will receive free ebook editions of both these publications.)
The list of stories that I need written is posted below. PM me (do not post publicly please) and let me know which story interests you. When a story is assigned, I'll post the author's name after the story.
Come on... stretch a little. Join me on this great project.
