The Basic Rules (which we all learned at first) and the Advanced Rules (which utilize Specials -- what we used to call Instants) will be primary, with Single-Stack Rules (what used to be called Board Free), Rumble Rules, and Tournament Rules also included. But as I was writing the marketing copy for the various decks, I realized... what if you wanted to play Terrapyres against Terrapyres or Celestials against Celestials... what would that game look like? Would it involve the Grail? Has anyone just mixed it up one game and gone head-to-head like that? What was different? What was the same? Please share Jennifer

But here are a few other variants that Summer and I have played just to mix things up: Hiding Specials under Terrain so that you can only claim a Special when you end up on a Terrain. Placing transportation Specials on Terrain and anyone who reaches it can use it. Motorcycle racing including crashes (battles) where Terrain is laid as you go. Black out rules where Terrain is placed face down and only turned over one per turn. NPC Celestials against two Terrapyre teams. Celestials move in one direction each, four spaces (no die rolling) each turn. They do not attack but if they land on a Terrapyre they send him or her back to their Lair. In terms of the mythology... Terrapyres may want the honor of harnessing the Grail themselves and so they'd fight (though not to elimination) each other. Celestials may want to destroy the Grail or tap it to use its power so they might fight each other. Just some ideas EJ

Was a decision made about basic (no Specials) play vs. play with Specials? Which play will be used in tournaments? Will the currently player ranks stand or will I need to earn my rank again (which sounds like major fun, to be honest)?

The final decision:
Player ranks for the Beta Deck will be locked and preserved. New rankings will be calculated for the National Edition and we will allow tournaments in both basic and advanced play. Ranks will be tracked separately.

I'm glad that no one is upset so far. All of you worked so hard for your wins, I don't want you to think they aren't worth while. They are and will remain posted.
